On Holidays

First off, I've decided that I will take the cheap way out, and from now on will post the little tidbits of limited substance that pop into my brain. At least it will keep the post count up.

That being said, this is my first holiday with a raiding guild (albeit a casual raiding guild). I'm expecting some slowdown for the holidays. In your experience, about when does it start getting back to normal? I'm guessing it'll probably be about a week after new years, not sure.

Fio, I have been in guilds that have toppled over C'thun in AQ40, Nefarian in BWL and so on and so forth.

In my experience there never really was a holiday slowdown in fact it usually sped up, more people off work/school or whatever.

However, with 40 man raids it was more forgiving if you had some people go on vacation.

I don't think it will too bad, and if it does start, expect it starting about the 15th of December when kids get out of school and people make travel plans.

I agree with Hathorn here..

Last year the only thing that slowed us down was TBC coming out, and then it wasnt till January that most guilds either disbanded or stopped raiding.

Thankfully we dont have an expansion coming any time soon so no need to worry!

My guilds raid calendar is fully booked till december 20th then we dont raid again till the 2nd Jan.

@Hathorn - Possibly, but I think the key difference is that this guild tends to have an older population than most - a population that sees an INCREASE in responsibilities (family, friends, holiday planning, etc) with no letup in other responsibilities (I don't know about you, but I don't get time off except for the actual holidays, unless I use my vacation time - and if so, it's usually to travel or some such).

Dunno, I could be wrong, it just seems to me like holidays end up being busier, at least if you're out of school/college and most of your friends are too.

We took thanksgiving week off (monday through friday) and, although we had TK scheduled for the following sunday, i'm pretty confident in saying we blew that off, too. But the next week here is perfectly normal.

I expect we'll probably have a moratorium on raiding starting with the weekend before christmas until the weekend after new years', about 2 weeks.
